Estepona town Council has announced that a Paella contest will take place on 8 and 9 November in the Huerta Nueva area of the town in at the same time as the craft and second-hand market.
Residents may enter the competition, which has been organised by Bar Mena El Tobalo in Avda. Padre Cura in collaboration with the Cultural department, either as a group or individually and there will be a maximum of 20 participants allowed each day.
All the material required to make the paellas will be provided by the participants themselves, such as the paella pan, gas ring etc…, and also the ingredients, with the exception of one litre of oil and two kilos of rice which will be contributed by the organizers.
The arrival time at Huerta Nueva, for the allocation of numbers, will be from 9 am, and the paellas must be completed by 2 pm, for presentation to the jury which will be made up of recognised professionals in the catering industry.
Paellas and rices in all their varying forms and presentations can be made so that they can then be tried by the general public at 2€ a ration. All proceeds from these tastings will go to the ‘Asociación Pro-Discapacitados Psíquicos de Estepona, (APRONA).
Participants will compete for three awards to be handed out on the 9 November, at 4 pm
- 1st Prize: 200 €
- 2nd prize: an assortment of ham cheese and wine
- 3rd Prize: an assortment of cheese and wine
