Estepona’s Peñas Blancas mountains will be the venue for the first stage of this year’s Campeonato de España de Montaña, from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 April.
Organised by the Spanish Automobile Federation, this will be the first stage of a seven stage competition beginning with this hill climb in Estepona on 5 – 6 April, and ending up in Tenerife in October.
It is eight years since Estepona hosted this event, that last edition being in 2006.
The programme for the weekend begins on Friday, 4 April with the technical inspections of all the participating vehicles in Avda San Lorenzo (by the old Tourist Office). The vehicles will be available in the Parc Ferme for public viewing until 9 pm.
Saturday, 5 April
9 am – The vehicles will be moved to the workshop area which has been set up in Avenida de Los Reales. The vehicles will travel via Avenida San Lorenzo, Avenida Juan Carlos I, Avenida España, Calle Terraza and Avenida Los Reales.
10.30 am – The MA-8301 Estepona-Peñas Blancas road will be closed to general traffic.
12 noon – First official practice session.
1.30 pm – First race.
3.30 pm – Second official practice session.
5 pm – Second race.
6.30 pm – Cars return to the Parc Ferme via Avenida Los Reales, Avenida de Andalucía, Avenida Juan Carlos I, C/ África and Avenida San Lorenzo.
Sunday, 6 April
9 am – The cars leave the Parc Ferme and head for the workshop area in Avenida Los Reales. MA-8301 Estepona-Peñas Blancas road closed to general traffic.
10.30 am – Third practice session begins.
12 noon – Third race.
1 pm – Cars return to the Parc Ferme via Avenida Los Reales, Avenida de Andalucía, Avenida Juan Carlos I, C/ África and Avenida San Lorenzo.
1.45 pm – Presentation of trophies and awards in Calle Real.
