Estepona Town Hall have initiated the process of setting up a weekly farmers’ market where local producers can sell their produce which is grown and made locally. Estepona’s Councillor for Agriculture, Manuel Aguilar, explained that the objective was to help the local rural economy by providing an outlet for growers and artisans to market the goods direct to the public.
All products would have to be grown or produced within the municipality and all the vendors would have to be registered on the town’s Padron.
It is proposed that the market be held every Sunday in Estepona’s Plaza Diario ABC, on the site of the former bus station.
A meeting was held at the Agricultural Cooperative at which the project was discussed and the process of establishing an association to oversee the setting up and management of the market was set in motion.
