A 94-year-old wheelchair bound grandfather, Tom Lackey, achieved one of his remaining ambitions when he flew round the Rock of Gibraltar this weekend on the wing of Boeing Stearman biplane, piloted by his friend Mike Denith.

Tom and Mike circled Gibraltar a number of times during the 25 minute flight to the delight of the spectators on the ground.

Tom Lackey is the UK’s oldest wing-walker and holds a number of Guinness records as the oldest man to do a loop-the-loop on the wing of an aircraft (at 86), the oldest man to cross from Dover to Calais and back on the wing of an aircraft (at 93) and the oldest man to wing-walk across the Irish Sea.

Tom took up wing-walking at the age of 79 and has raised over a million pounds for charity since the death of his wife Isabel, a picture of whom he carries with him on each walk.
