Trombonist Fred WesleyLegendary jazz funk trombonist Fred Wesley will be performing, with his trio ‘Generations’ at Louie Louie’s in Estepona Port on Friday 17 March from 11 pm.
The third pillar of James Brown’s JB Horns, alongside the saxes of Maceo Parker and Pee Wee Ellis, and the sonic basis of George Clinton’s cosmic funk, the trombonist Fred Wesley is one of the most sought-after players on planet funk. His connection with the Italian organist Leonardo Corradi, a 21-year-old prodigy, and the French drummer Tony Match, aged 42, has generated one of the most spectacular power trios on the international circuit.
Their repertoire is a declaration of love for the legacy of Jimmy Smith but it also champions composers as diverse as Count Basie, Lenny Kravitz, Ray Charles and D’Angelo.
Tickets are 18 euros in advance or 20 euros on the door. Don’t miss this rare chance to see this musical legend here on the Coast.
