The Skatalites return to Benalmadena


The Skatalites in SpainThe legendary ska band The Skatalites return to Benalmadena on Saturday 30 July, supported by two local bands, Malaka Youth and Futu Matano.

The Skatalites are a ska band from Jamaica. They played initially between 1963 and 1965, and recorded many of their best known songs in the period, including “Guns of Navarone.” They also played on records by Prince Buster and backed many other Jamaican artists who recorded during that period. They reformed in 1983 and have played together ever since.

Malaka Youth are a young reggae band from Malaga founded in 2011 and have had a successful few years, performing two years running at the Rototom Sunsplash Reggae Festival up in Valencia.

Futu Matano are a Costa del Sol six piece, fusing funk, rock, reggae and hip hop with a little dash of flamenco.

The concert will be held at the Auditorio Municipal de Benalmadena, Parque de la Paloma, Benalmadena on Saturday 30 July. Doors open at 9.30 pm and the music kicks off at 10.30 pm.
