All is set at La Reserva de Sotogrande for this week’s NH Collection Open starting on Thursday. Amongst the players seen taking their first practice round are Shane Lowry, Simon Dyson, Johan Edfords or Peter Lawrie, as well as Spaniards Alejandro Cañizares, Carlos del Moral and Jordi García del Moral – which have played 9 holes together- Álvaro Velasco, Jorge Campillo or José Manuel Lara.

The new dual-ranking event – which counts towards both The European Tour’s Race to Dubai and the European Challenge Tour Rankings – has been warmly welcomed by the Spanish golfing community, particularly in this southern Spanish resort which will benefit immensely from the wide international media coverage of the NH Collection Open. “The new event will showcase the wonderful Sotogrande tourist offer, which includes prestigious top quality golf courses as well as a marina, equestrian sports, tennis clubs and wonderful places to visit” affirms Ramón Luengo, Director General of Sotogrande S.A.

The venue of the NH Collection Open faces the future with optimism. “Things are improving, our real estate sales have increased 25% and we are convinced that the trend is bound to continue. This tournament will be a big boost at the right moment, just before Easter” adds Luengo.

Around one hundred journalists have registered for the event, both from the general and the specialized international and local media. A Tour Productions team, present at La Reserva de Sotogrande, will produce a highlights programme featuring key moments, players’ interviews, prize giving, general images, etc.

This programme, as well as the European Tour Weekly preview, will be broadcast through various TV channels with a worldwide potential audience of 400 million.  Images of the event will be seen in Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, and USA amongst other countries. In Spain they will be broadcast through Canal + Golf and Canal Sur.
