In the heart of the Sierra Crestellina Natural Park behind the picturesque White Town of Casares, you will find the Mountain Refuge, an old stone house which has been fitted out as basic accommodation for up to ten people, making it an ideal spot for couples, families or groups of friends to enjoy this natural environment.
Sierra Crestellina Natural Park encompasses the isolated Jurassic limestone ridge which offers a backdrop to the town of Casares, and which reaches 942 metres at its highest point at the Cerro de las Chapas.
Just next to the Refuge visitors can find a viewpoint from where they can take in the the spectacular views of Casares Town, The Genal and Guadiaro Valleys, the spectacular karst rock formations of the Sierra de la Utrera, the stunning red rocks of the Sierra Bermeja, as well as the Rock of Gibraltar, the Straits and the African coastline on clear days.
The mild and humid microclimate, the indigenous Mediterranean flora and fauna, its dense pine forests, and abundance of bird life, including many birds of prey and the colony of vultures which has made this range their home, makes it an ideal spot to enjoy nature.
The refuge makes the perfect base for various eco tourism activities, or just a pleasant spot to get away from it all. Its unique location makes it an unforgettable experience.
