Works have begun to widen the Rio Manilva Road in the area of the recinto ferial (Sunday market) and water treatment plant.
According to Mario Jimenez, Manilva’s Councillor for Infrastructure and Public Works, the work consists of removing the pump house by the ford which narrows the road down to a single lane and is a potential accident black spot.
The project has a total cost of 40,000 euros, of which 10,000 euros will be contributed from the town hall coffers, and the remainder coming from the water company Hidralia.
Work is expected to be completed within a week and the councillor apologises for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.
The Mayor of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez, also commented that “this work will solve a long standing problem in the area, and reduce the risk of accident.”
