Ever since Manilva’s three individual ferias, one each in Manilva, Sabinillas and Castillo, were combined back in 2005 to make one big August Fair situated on the fairground on the Rio Manilva road, there has been a quite sizeable section of the local population who remain unhappy and would like to see a return to the municipality’s more traditional celebrations in each of the three main population centres to be held around their patron saints’ days.
With this in mind the local council have drawn up proposals to restore these traditional events on which local residents will be able to vote in a referendum to be held on Sunday 5 February.
Full details will be available for public view on Wednesday 1 February at the following locations:
Pensioners’ Centre in Castillo at 5 pm
Edificio Usos Multiples in Sabinillas at 6 pm
Council Chambers next to the Police Station in Manilva from 7.30 pm
If approved the three fairs will be held on the following dates:
Virgen del Carmen, Castillo Fair
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 14, 15 and 16 July
Santa Ana, Manilva Fair
Friday, Saturday and Sunday 28, 29 and 30 July
San Luis, Sabinillas Fair
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 25, 26 and 27 August
