Packed programme of events and activities for Estepona’s ‘Celebrate your Streets 2016’

Estepona Vive sus Calles 2016The streets of Estepona’s historic old town centre will be the stage for this year’s ‘Celebrate Your Streets’ festival introduced a few years ago to mark the refurbishment of the town centre.

The event will take place from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 March and a packed programme of events and activities includes the popular Tapas Route, and a free concert by hit pop duo Andy y Lucas.

Programme.

Friday 11 March

VIII Estepona-Puerto de Peñas Blancas Hill Climb – A weekend of motor racing (more information here).

6 pm – ‘The Gymnasium of Eternal Youth’ – Chi Kung exhibition and sessions at the Estepona Orchid House.
7 pm – Children’s Theatre – ‘Peter Pan’ at the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre. Tickets 4€.
8 pm – Fashion Show presented by Julio Battaglia at the Estepona Orchid House.
9 pm – ‘Radio Stars’ in concert, the best of 80s pop rock at the Plazoleta Ortiz.
9 pm – Tapas Route opens. Choose the best tapa from the participating bars and restaurants and enter the draw for great prizes.

Saturday 12 March

10 am – International Chess Tournament in Calle Real.
12 noon – Children’s Party in Plaza Augusto Suarez de Figueroa, with bouncy castles and children’s entertainers.
1 pm – Flamenco Show performed by the Ana Guerrero Dance Academy in Estepona Port.
2 pm – Tapas Route opens.
7 pm – Preview in Plazoleta Ortiz of the ‘EsteponGO! Festival of Manga, Videogames, Cosplay, and Alternative Culture, 18 to 20 March.
8 pm – Easter Concert by the Estepona Town Band at the Felipe VI Theatre. Tickets 5€ available from Padre Manuel Cultural Centre from 11 am to 1.30 pm daily. Ticket money goes to local charity APRONA.
10 pm – Pop duo Andy y Lucas in concert at Calle Manuel Navarro Mollor. Free entry.

Sunday 13 March

11 am to 3 pm – Open day at the Estepona Fire Station.
12 noon to 4 pm – VI National Ham Cutting Contest in Calle Real.
12.30 pm – Classical concert by the Acanthus Orchestra playing works by Mozart, Barber, etc.
1 pm – Dance Show by the Martina Tessaro Dance School in Plaza del Diario ABC.
1.30 pm – Conference ‘Tea and Wine – Similarities and Differences’ with somelier Silvia Fernandez Romay.
2 pm – Tapas Route opens.
8.15 pm – Easter Concert with the Acanthus Orchestra in the Iglesia San Jose church.
