Michael Pare collects his award

An emotional Michael Pare collected his Special Judge's Award, the "Stone Unicorn" from Estepona's Councillor for Culture, Maria Lopez, at the VIII Estepona International Horror and Fantasy Film Festival.

This is the first time this award has been presented, and Mr Pare said it meant a lot to him to receive it in the presence of so many luminaries of the horror and fantasy fim industry.

During the evening the audience was treated to a film resume of Michael Pare's career after which his latest film, director Uwe Boll's "Bloodrayne II, Deilverance" was screened to an appreciative audience. For pictures see HERE

Christopher Lee to miss Estepona Film Festival PDF Print E-mail

Films fans will be disappointed to hear that Christopher Lee is unable to attend the VIII Estepona International Festival of Fantasy and Horror Films due to medical reasons which prevent him travelling.

The octagenarian actor was due to collect the Golden Unicorn Award in recognition of his long an illustrious career in the genre, his daughter Christina will accept the award in his place.

Mr Lee is reported to be disappointed that he will the ceremony, which he was looking forward to, but hopes to visit Estepona in the very near future to personally thank the Festival organisers for the award.

the Mayor of Estepona, Antonio Barrientos.

The VIII Estepona International Festival of Fantasy and Horror Film got underway last night with the award of  the Waldemar Daninsky Prize to director and writer Stuart Gordon.

After the award ceremony the audience was treated to a screening of a TV adaptation of a story by HP Lovecraft "Dreams of the Witch House", which was broadcast as part of the Masters of Horror TV series.

Estepona III Tennis Copa de Naciones

At the “III Tennis Copa de Naciones” held in Estepona earlier the month the Spanish boys were overall winners in the male category, having been unbeaten throughout the contest. The Portuguese took the girls trophy.
