Antonio Barrientos, Mayor of Estepona, has informed all political groups he is sure that for the first time there will be a university project although he has requested caution until the proposal is better understood.
On the 7th of March the director of the private University Camilo José Cela, Camilo José Cela presented to a meeting of municipal representatives for Estepona the first draft for an Estepona University. The proposal has been welcomed favourably by all local political parties who have described the proposal as "a good project". For the mayor of Estepona, the first draft proposal for the University which could have eleven degree courses, is a priority and, but for want of an in-depth study, "very interesting", although he agrees to act "without haste", because although it generates great excitement it must be treated with prudence and caution, making sure that the content of the agreement is beneficial to the Townspeople. The first draft of the proposal for the university has the documentary support of three thousand pages. The degrees that it includes are: Legal and Social sciences; Rights and Administration of Companies; Economics; Tourism; Odontology, Veterinary medicine, Logopedics, Physiotherapy; Communication Sciences (that include Journalism, Publicity and Audio-visual Communication); Architecture; Technical Architecture; a School of Hotel & Catering, a bilingual school, Hotel & Catering Management, Third Age, and Geriatric assistance modules. Antonio Barrientos commented that “for the first time this is a project for all political groups with the agreement of everyone and a medal for no one; the rough draft is at the disposition of all Spokesmen; we are going to demand that all the commitments are fulfilled”. The project satisfies the stipulations made by the original owner who bequeathed it to the municipality. |
