The Estepona Town Council has approved projects amounting to € 10,695,347, for funding from the State Investment Fund aimed at stimulating the local economy and employment.
According to the mayor, David Valadez, the projects were selected as those which would provide the greatest number of jobs at local level as well as long-awaited improvements to the infrastructure and environment.
Another consideration, according to Eduardo Alarcón, councillor for infrastructure, was that the projects were of a size which could be handled by local small and medium sized businesses in the municipality, thus keeping the revenue in the town.
These projects are:
Refurbishment and enlargement of the Local Police Station (€ 618,605).
Signalling and traffic study on Avenida Jose Mendez Marin as far as the Avenida Juan Carlos roundabout (€509,668)
Implementation of footpath on the right side of Avenida De Las Palmeras at the entrance to La Cancelada (€ 70,000)
Improvements to the drain and sewage networks in the suburbs (€24,000)
Construction of a building to house the offices and equipment of the department which deals with suburban matters('extrarradio) (€328,219)
Roadworks and improvements in Calle Terraza (€230,551)
Refurbishment and improvements in all schools in the municipality (€720,653)
Improvements to the changing facilities at the Santo Tomás de Aquino Municipal Sports Centre (€150.000)
Signage and lighting at the access to Estepona Port (€50,000)
Construction of a bike lane on Avenida El Carmen, between the lighthouse and Guadalobón area (€2,496,736)
Phase 5 of the renovation of Calles Tagus, Douro and Minho (€3,652,615)
Remodeling of Calle Félix Troyano (€ 758,395)
Remodeling of the Casa de Cultura (€157,000)
Construction of a nursery school in Cancelada (€422,458)
Various infrastructure projects in the suburbs (€225,000)
Construction of a multi-use building in Cancelada (€120,000)
Installation of fire hydrants in the  Estepona Industrial Estate (Poligono) (€337,741)
Renewal of the water mains at La Tejilla (€974,994)
