The man was also wanted by police in France on a number of charges including forgery, kidnap and arms dealing. He was also being sought by Marbella police on a number of fraud charges.

The body, believed to be that of his wife, was discovered hidden under rubble in the garden of a house in the El Velerin urbanisation and police have stated that she could have been murder up to six months before the body was found on December 17th.
