U14 – 7s Vs St. Richard’s School, Bromyard, Herefordshire

The U14s played a packed weekend of rugby this week with a 7s friendly competition against a touring side from the UK on Saturday and an important Semi-final which was played on Sunday in Jerez de la Frontera.

The 7s match was played in the afternoon sunshine on Saturday at Bahia Marbella. Marbella put out 3 teams and St. Richard’s brought a team along to play with animated support from the girl’s netball team who were touring with them. All the boys got to run out and there was a flourish of trys from all the teams but no overall scores were recorded. The idea was to have fun and enjoy the company of the touring side.

Semi-final – Marianistas 5 Vs 19 Marbella

On Sunday the Marbella team travelled to Jerez de la Frontera with travelling support from Guido Navone, Miguel Lopez, Alexandre Turner and Frederick Pirozzo, to play against Marianistas who have developed at an amazing rate in less than a year to be competitive in this U14 league. Marbella started well with the wind at their backs to run in 2 quick trys to go into the break 0-14.
Marianistas then put their big forwards to work and made Marbella work hard for their win. The second half ended with a draw 5-5 but the overall score has given Marbella a cushion of 14 points difference going into the return match at home next Saturday.

The U16s made light work of their opposition at home to qualify for the Final of the Championship of Andalucia. The first half saw Marbella give away far too many penalties which the opposition kicker tried to convert but was unable to do so due to the swirling wind at Bahia Marbella on Saturday. Once Marbella got their rhythm they ran in a total of 10 trys on the day, 6 of which were converted.
