No to violenceThanks to an initiative by Manilva’s Department for Women, headed by Councillor Patricia Recio, a number of roadsigns reinforcing the unacceptability of violence against women, have been erected at the entrance to the municipality’s various population centres.
Discrimination against women and gender violence, the most brutal manifestation of inequalities between men and women, is present throughout the world but Manilva Town Council wishes to identify itself as a location in which such discrimination is unacceptable here.
As Recio commented: “we will not stop in the struggle to achieve equality of women in society and eradicate the social scourge of gender violence with small details such as these signs, demonstrations or demands in all agencies,” she concluded.
