Estepona’s Councillor for Culture, Maria Dolores Espinosa, has announced the initial programme of events to be staged at the town’s recently opened Felipe VI Theatre. The idea is to promote the theatre to local residents and the programme aims to include performances that will appeal to all ages and tastes.

The popular flamenco singer and Latin Grammy nominee, José Mercé will open the programme with a double bill of performances at 7 pm and 9.30 pm on Saturday 18 April.

TV presenter Agustin Bravo makes his acting debut in the stage musical ‘Los gurús de la crisis’ on May 1. This is a tale of clairvoyant conjoined twins who predict the future through dance. First performance at 7 pm, the second at 9.30 pm.

May 9 sees a performance by the Malaga pop group Efecto Mariposa. This popular chart topping group will also be performing twice, first at 7 pm, the second at 9.30 pm.

Theatregoers are also in for a treat on May 22 when ‘Aida’ actress Melanie Olivares stars in the biting comedy ‘Al final de la carretera’ along with Marina San José, daughter of Ana Belen and Victor Manuel. Performances are at 7 pm and 9.30 pm.

In addition to these actions, the town hall has scheduled eight theatrical performances aimed at introducing the pleasures of the theatre to a younger audience. On 2 and 3 May sees a performance of  ‘Peneque’, April 24 will be the turn of the musical ‘Supercalifragilistico’ and on 19 April ‘Bruja Federica’. Performances at 19.00 and 21.30 for all these events.

All those interested in booking tickets for any of these shows can make reservations at the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre.
