Estepona Town Hall in collaboration with Estepona Athletics Club has organised a night race on Friday, August 22 to raise funds to help local National Police officer, Alejandro García, who has become quadriplegic due to a domestic accident.
Estepona’s Sports Councillor, Adrian Trujillo, encourages the participation of both residents and visitors alike in this 4km fun run/walk which sets off at 9.30 pm through the streets of Estepona’s historic old town centre.
Entry is just 4 euros and can be registered through www.dorsalchip.com, ‘Dalguez Sport’ in Marbella, ‘Xtreme Mediterráneo’ in Estepona and ‘Arenal Wellness’ in Sabinillas. The first 500 to register will receive a commemorative t-shirt, water bottle and be entered into a prize draw.
Participants can enter without registration an hour before the start of the run in Plaza Antonia Guerrero (Egg Square) in Calle Terraza.
According to Ana Belen Lara, representative of Grupo Sanyres one of the companies promoting this event announced that there will also be a ‘Dorsal 00’ for those wishing to contribute without entering the race, and can donate as much or as little as they wish.
Alejandro’s father, Francisco Garcia, and his colleague Miguel Angel Jimenez described him as a dedicated family man and keen sportsman, and it was a great way for people to express their support and would undoubtedly lift his spirits
