Estepona has launched it’s Estepona Natural initiative which focusses on Estepona’s rich rural landscapes and natural attractions including some 174 kms of tracks and trails for use on foot, bicycle or horseback.
Some ten individual routes have been created which provide the opportunity to discover unique environments such as the Paseo de los Pinsapos where visitors can view the Spanish Fir forests, one of the few location of this rare tree, or visit the Pico de los Reales which, at 1,452 metres, is over 100 metres higher than Ben Nevis!
Details of all these routes can be found on the website www.estepona-natural.es where you can download detailed itineraries or gps coordinates for use with your mobile app.
Besides these routes there are also details of other recreational activities available in the Estepona area.
During a presentation Estepona’s Mayor, José María García Urbano, stressed the importance of creating a tourism infrastructure which can be enjoyed all-year-round and this project will an important part of that aim.
The website is currently in Spanish only but it is planned to create an English version in the very near future.
