Costa Gaels, Irish football club, are actively seeking new players for the senior male squad. If you would be interested in trying out a sport that involves agility, speed, power and skill and a growing, thriving and welcoming community then look no further!
Costa Gaels train on Wednesday nights from 19:30 and Sunday Morning from 11am at Marbella Rugby club . Training involves cross fitness, endurance and of course the typical passing and kicking skills, but Irish football, if you are not familiar with it, is different from what you might expect.
The ball, a round ball but heavier than a typical soccer ball, is passed with the fist (Like Beach Volley ball), kicked from the hand (like a goal keeper in soccer), handled and moved (like a basketball player) and tackles are shoulder to shoulder and focused on the ball (like no other sport I can think of right now).
We have local matches coming up against Seville and Gibraltar in November and December and with the dawn of 2015 we have a full schedule of matches locally and in the Iberian league in Galicia, Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona! So there’s plenty on and we need to increase our numbers! That means we want YOU!
So if you want to try something a little bit different and meet some new people, please come along and say hello!
