Since the May 26 local elections which left the IU party with 6 councillors, Compromiso with 5 and the PSOE also with 5, Izquierdo Unido have failed to convince either of the other two parties to form a coalition with them to give them the minimum 9 seats to govern.
This has resulted in Compromiso and the PSOE filling that role, giving them a combined 10 seats and relegating IU into opposition.
As a result Mario Jiménez will continue as Mayor, with the other delegations being distributed as follows:

Compromiso – Public Security, Cemetary, Planning and Mobility, Local Development, Employment, Tourism, Beaches, Health, Cleaning, Social Services, Youth, Fiestas, Education.

PSOE – Housing, Infrastructure and Public Works, Finance, Human Resources, Culture, Sports, Communication, Transport, Environment, Urbanisations, Parks and Gardens, Commerce, Agriculture and fisheries, Foreign Residents.
