Casares RomeriaThe last Saturday of May is the day on which, traditionally, Casares celebrates its patron saint the Virgen del Rosario del Campo with a pilgrimage or romeria involving the woman of the town preceded by riders on horseback, leaving the church of San Sebastian in Casares town at 10.30 pm to the small chapel or ermita situated between the rivers Genal and Guadiaro, a distance of 14 kms.

Following this procession, it is traditional for the pilgrims to camp out in the chapel’s surroundings and party through until Sunday afternoon at 7 pm when the effigy of the Virgen is returned to Casares.

Everyone is welcome to join in and enjoy the countryside and bathe in the Rio Genal.
