At their weekly coffee morning on Wednesday 4 December, organizer Leila Bourquin, together with Cathy Braithwaite from the Anglican Church, was delighted to receive a cheque for €500 on behalf of CARITAS from President Jill Cawley.
This organization has been working tirelessly to help the disadvantaged in our area from going hungry, and CAP members have been donating foodstuffs each week throughout 2013.
With donations to CUDECA, ASPANDEM and Triple A already made, CAP club members have raised and distributed more than €3.000 during 2013.
CAP is a friendly, social organisation based between San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona, meeting at 11 a.m. each Wednesday morning for coffee at Restaurante El Caserio, Parque Antena, next to garden centre Agro Jardin; many weeks there is a speaker.
Weekly activities include bridge, whist and bowls, and members have recently started a choir.
Other events and excursions include regular shopping trips to Gibraltar; visits to the theatre and exhibitions; lunches and dinners at different venues along the coast.
A full programme of events is published in their free quarterly magazine, and regularly updated online. They also raise money for local charities, mainly Alzheimer’s, Aprona, Aspandem and Cudeca.
New members are welcome – annual membership is only €15. Why not go along for coffee? You will be assured of a warm welcome.
