Arte Marbella, reaching its 5th edition in June 2013, has become one of Marbella’s most popular and dynamic cultural events.
Proving the international reach of Arte Marbella, a gallery from UK contacted the event organizers in order to represent some of the festival’s talent at a new art space named The Paragon in Cheltenham. Run by Tony Wardle a former marketing executive of advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi, and daughter Eleanor Wardle, the founder, the pair visited a selection of Arte Marbella artists in Spain, accompanied by the festival’s president, Caroline Bowley.
Impressed by the standard, and the international nature of Arte Marbella, they were taken to artists’ studios – many off the beaten track – around Andalucía. “ We were overwhelmed by both the talent and the hospitality of the artists,” Eleonor Wardle enthused. The mission proved fruitful, and the new UK based gallery will be displaying works by the following artists, all of whom have exhibited at Arte Marbella: Michéle Lehman (Switzerland – figurative painting); Isys Kad (Belgium – cubism painting); Marco Bombach (Germany – Pop art painting); Christa Hillekamp (Germany – surreal landscape painting); Alexey Ejov (Russia – painting); Nimrod Messeg (Israel- wrought iron sculpture); Aurelio Rodríguez (Spain – Portraiture painting); Ana Matias (Spain – Figurative, hand printed lithographs); Esther Meguizo (Spain – abstract painting); Inmaculada Antolin (Spain – hand printed lithographs).
The Paragon will be opening in early March in Cheltenham’s fashionable Montpellier district. Organised into a number of zones where the avant-garde can hang comfortably near the classical and where abstract, figurative, impressionist, realist, surrealist, naive and pop in any media can all have a place.
The gallery will have an international focus, hence the contact with Arte Marbella which boasts to date around 300 artists that have exhibited over the past 4 editions.
Inscription is still open for artists wishing to participate in the fifth edition to be held on June 20 to 23, 2013. For full details see the www.artemarbella.com. A non-profit making organization, Arte Marbella all interested sponsors, collaborators and volunteers are welcomed by the President Caroline Bowley on: email@example.com.
