Age Concern Manilva – Estepona held its first Friends of Age Concern tapas and drinks day at its Drop In Centre in Estepona earlier today. I was honoured to have been invited along by Eileen Dry, the President, as both a friend, and friend of the charity to meet other people and groups who are associated with Age Concern Manilva – Estepona.
Although they will be holding another get together for all the hard working volunteers of the charity on another day, this was a great opportunity for people like me to meet some of the other friends of the charity who get involved from time to time to support the charity in different ways. To quote the charity’s own news letter: “A friend of the charity is a person who does not necessarily want to play an active role in the work of the charity, but who supports its aims and objectives and wants to show that support”.
Through this article, I would like to make people aware, and who wouldn’t otherwise know, that Age Concern Manilva – Estepona now operates as far West as San Roque, and as far East as Marbella. Due in part to this expansion, and the fact that several of its members and volunteers have recently moved back to the UK, they are seriously in need and are trying to increase the size of their membership of volunteers, friends and simple members.
This is a very worthy cause which most expats who move to Spain to retire will at some time in their life be very grateful of its existence. Subscription is only 10 € for single person, or 15 € for a couple, per annum.
