2019 Easter Week Programme for Manilva and Sabinillas

Manilva

The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Father Jesus Nazareno de Manilva, has announced the extensive program designed to mark Holy Week.

This Friday, April 12 from seven in the afternoon, the Holy Mass will take place followed by the presentation of the new processional marches by the Manilva Town Band, along with the opening speech by Agustín Manuel Palma Infante.

Palm Sunday will begin at 11 am in the church square with the blessing of the palms and a holy mass, followed by the ‘Borriquita’ procession.

On Tuesday, at 8 pm at the Santa Ana Church in Manilva, the XIV Noche de Exaltación a la Saeta manilveña will take place. The evening will feature performances by Pepe Lara, Rafa Gómez, Nina Ledesma, Moisés Díaz “El Crespo”, Emi “La del Mellizo” and Pepe García.

On Holy Wednesday, at 11 pm, the Vía Crucis will be held, starting in the Church and going through calle Cuartel and camino del Calvario.

On Holy Thursday, at 8 pm, the Holy Mass will be celebrated and at 11 pm the procession of Jesus Nazareno will begin. This will depart from the Church, continue through the Plaza de la Iglesia and will cross the calles Cuartel, Cruces, Jimena, Mar, Álvarez Leiva, Duchess and will return to the temple.

As for Good Friday, at 5 pm, the Holy Offices will take place with the Adoration of the Cross, during which the bells will be silent.

Then, the procession of the Holy Burial and Our Lady of Sorrows will depart from the Church and will go through the Plaza de la Iglesia and calles Cuartel, Cruces, Jimena, Mar, Álvarez Leiva, Duquesa and return to the Temple.

The Blessing of Fire in the atrium of the Church and the celebration of the solemn Easter Vigil will be held on Holy Saturday at 11 pm.

On Easter Sunday at 12 noon there will be a Holy Mass followed by the procession of the Most Holy Risen Christ and the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary.

The Risen One will leave from the Church, continue through the Church Square and continue through calles Cuartel, Cruces, Jimena and Calle Mar.

The Virgin of the Rosary will leave from the Church and will continue by Calle Iglesia, Duquesa and Calle Mar.

Precisely it will be on Calle Mar where the expected meeting takes place. One of the most awaited moments by all the faithful. Both then proceed to the Church of Santa Ana de Manilva.

Sabinillas

As for Holy Week in San Luis de Sabinillas, activities are organized by the Brotherhood of the Christ of Love and Our Lady of Sorrows, with the proclamation.

On Friday of Sorrows April 12, at 5 pm, the Mass will be held, presenting medals to the new brothers and blessing them in the Church of San Luis from five in the afternoon.

On Palm Sunday, April 14, starting at 12.30 pm, the Blessing of the palms and olive branches will be held in the Plaza Costa del Sol, in the Barriada de los Pescadores. Then a mass will be celebrated in the church of Sabinillas.

On Holy Tuesday, April 16, there will be a mass in honour of the Christ of Love, with the imposition of the crown of thorns and and the kissing of the feet.

On Holy Thursday of passion, after the Lord’s supper, the Via Crucis will take place, which will run through the Plaza de la Iglesia, Marqués de Larios, Picasso, Duquesa de Arcos and Plaza de la Colonia. After that the holy hour will be celebrated.

On Friday, April 19, the holy offices and adoration of the Holy Cross will be celebrated from 5 pm.

At 9.30 pm the procession of the Christ of Love and Our Lady of Sorrows will begin, starting from the Plaza de la Colonia, will go through calles Duquesa de Arcos, Picasso, Marques de Larios and Plaza de la Iglesia.

On Holy Saturday at 9 pm the Easter vigil will be held in the Church of San Luis.

Finally, on Easter Sunday, the Holy Mass will be celebrated from 10.30 am, followed an hour later by the procession of the Risen One and the Virgin of Happiness, whose images will depart from the Plaza de la Iglesia, to visit the square of Salvador Rueda, Duquesa de Arcos, Picasso, Marqués de Larios and return to the Church Square.
